Porsche Macan

The Porsche Macan (Type 95B) is a luxury compact crossover utility vehicle manufactured by the German car manufacturer Porsche. The Macan was originally known by its code name Cajun, a portmanteau of Cayenne Junior. On February 16, 2012 Porsche announced the final name for the car to be Macan, taken from the Indonesian word for "tiger." Initially announced in November 2010 as a development project, and formally announced by Porsche in March 2011, the Macan was formally launched at both the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show and the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, with European sales commencing in spring 2014. The Macan is produced alongside the Panamera and the Cayenne in Leipzig, Germany in a newly extended factory. The Macan compact crossover SUV offers a more compact body than the Cayennemidsize crossover SUV. The Macan is also intended to be sportier than the Cayenne; for instance the Macan has a standard 7-speed dual-clutch PDK gearbox which is more responsive while the Cayenne has an 8-speed Tiptronic transmission for smoother shifts. The Porsche Macan shares its platform with the Audi Q5. The wheelbase and suspension configuration are based on and heavily modified from the Audi, but the engine, transfercase, suspension tuning, interior and exterior are unique to Porsche for the Macan. It is also 1.7 inches (43 mm) longer and 1.4 inches (36 mm) wider than a Q5.

At launch, three different models and engines were available, all being V6 format: a 3.0-litre Macan S with 340 PS (250 kW; 335 bhp), a 3.6-litre Macan Turbo with 400 PS (294 kW; 395 bhp) and a 3.0-litre 258 PS (190 kW; 254 bhp) Diesel, with a CO₂ emissions of 159 g/km. The Macan GTS was announced in October 2015 to fit into the gap between the Macan S and Macan Turbo. All Macans feature a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive, with several options available including air suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). Porsche subsequently released a base Macan for select Asian markets and the United Kingdom. Using a reworked version of the Volkswagen Group's 2.0-litre inline-four engine used in multiple applications such as the Audi Q5, the Macan is the first Porsche to be powered by four cylinders since the Porsche 968. This engine became offered globally for the Macan's 2017 model year following an announcement in March 2016. A 204 PS (150 kW; 201 bhp) 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel is due to join the range at a later date.

Porsche Cayenne

The Porsche Cayenne (Type 9PA) is a mid-size luxury crossover sport utility vehicle produced by the German manufacturer Porsche since 2002, with North American sales beginning in 2003. It is the first V8-engined vehicle built by Porsche since 1995, when the Porsche 928 was discontinued. Since 2008, all engines have featured direct injection technology. The second-generation Cayenne (Type 92A) was unveiled at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show in March following an online reveal. Although the Cayenne shares its platform, body frame and doors with the similar Volkswagen Touareg, all other aspects of vehicle design, tuning and production are done in-house at Porsche. The second generation received a facelift in 2014 with minor external changes, and introduced a new plug-in E-Hybrid version, with its public launch at the Paris Motor Show. The second-generation Porsche Cayenne went on sale in April–May 2010 as a 2011 model, with an official debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. In preparation for the unveiling, the Cayenne production facility in Leipzig, Germany, closed in December 2009 to commence factory retooling for the new model, a process that took 2–3 months.The 2011 Porsche Cayenne is larger than its predecessors, but features a more slanted rear window, less upright windshield, a more sloping roofline, door-mounted mirrors, smaller windows at the rear of the vehicle, headlights inspired by the Carrera GT, taillights that extend onto the car's tailgate, LED daytime running lights and a vastly redesigned interior modeled after the Panamera. The 2011 Cayenne is almost 250 kg (550 lb) lighter than the previous models due to extensive use of aluminum and magnesium, making it more fuel efficient than the previous lineup. Despite its lower stance, the new vehicle's off-road capabilities have been retained without compromising the street performance-oriented layout and design. In addition to a diesel offering, a hybrid version is available. Also, the 2015 diesel Porsche Cayenne was in the Volkswagen emissions scandal. Standard features of the 2011 Porsche Cayenne include air conditioning with dual-zone climate controls, interior air filter, tilt/telescopic leather-wrapped steering wheel with radio controls, cruise control, leather upholstery, eight-way power front seats, outside-temperature indicator, and universal garage door opener in the base model. The Cayenne S adds a power sunroof and memory for the driver's seat.^] The Cayenne GTS added an optional rearview camera, keyless access and start, and memory system. Finally, the most upscale Cayenne Turbo and Turbo S added a navigation system with voice recognition, premium sound system, optional four-zone climate controls, heated rear seats, and six-disc CD changer.The Cayenne's naturally aspirated and turbocharged V8 engines are shared with the Panamera and have been upgraded for faster acceleration times with more horsepower and torque, as well as more powerful direct-injection technology to improve efficiency. The base Cayenne model Cayenne is tuned to offer 300 hp. The Cayenne comes powered by a 3.6-L VR6 engine producing 300 PS (221 kW; 296 hp), the Cayenne S features the same 4.L V8 in the Panamera S models producing 400 PS (294 kW; 395 hp) and the Cayenne Turbo comes with Panamera Turbo's 4.8-L twin turbo V8 producing 500 PS (368 kW; 493 hp). The Cayenne S Hybrid uses an Volkswagen-sourced 3.0-L V6 engine producing 333 PS (245 kW; 328 hp) paired with a nickel metal hydride battery capable of 47 PS (35 kW; 46 hp) for a total of 380 PS (279 kW; 375 hp). A manual gearbox serves as the standard transmission system on the base Cayenne, with all other models featuring an eight-speed Tiptronic as standard equipment. The low-range transfer case found in the previous generation has been removed. All vehicles will feature about 10% less weight than their predecessors, 70 kg worth of standard equipment in excess of that found on the current model and a more heavily contoured rear bench. Available Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) active anti-roll bars, Adaptive air suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). In September 2012 Porsche announced the Cayenne S Diesel.^[20] This model is fitted with the Volkswagen 4.1-L V8 TDI engine. In October 2012, Porsche confirmed the addition of a new Cayenne Turbo S. In July 2014, Porsche launched a facelifted Cayenne range, with minor exterior alterations and new power-train options, including a plug-in E-Hybrid and downsizing of the S model's 4.8-L V8 to a turbocharged 3.6-L V6.
